René-Lévesque Plant Manic-3 Water Systems Rehabilitation

rehabilitating an underground hydroelectric power plant

Opened in 1976, the René-Lévesque underground hydroelectric power plant located in the Manicouagan district is equipped with six generating units with a power output of 232 MVA each.

Rehabilitation of the Manic-3 water systems included selection of equipment such as filters, pressure reduction valves, instrumentation for the raw water system at 130, 90 and 45 psi, and filtered water systems for the 90 psi shaft seal. Rehabilitation also brought detailed design of control panels for various filtration systems, as well as drainage and flushing pumps.
