University of California, San Diego – Mayer Hall Quantum Laser Lab

updating systems to pioneer the latest technology in physics and science

Interior tenant improvements to the University of California San Diego’s Mayer Hall brought critical upgrades to establish lab space for pioneering research in atomic, molecular, optical physics and x-ray science with patented technologies.

The new 2,200 SF space consists of an ISO 6/8 cleanroom laser lab with strict environmental requirements (temperature, humidity, acoustics, vibration), two service areas housing laser system support equipment and an ante room. Within the laser lab there are provisions for two laser systems; a single system installed initially with provisions for a second, future laser system. This renovation project was highly technical and required meticulous coordination with all trades due to the limited floor of the existing space.
