Principal, Director of Lighting Design Aram Ebben FIALD, CLD, LEED AP has been accepted into the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) College of Fellows. Acceptance into the IALD College of Fellows is awarded to model architectural lighting designers who have made a significant contribution to the international design/build community and made outstanding contributions to IALD as an association.
With a versatile background in visual arts and stage design, combined with his extensive experience in lighting design, Aram is a dynamic leader in the industry. Aram began his career at EXP in 1996. As Director of Lighting, Aram leads a team of 18 designers, who serve a vital role in expressing the human experience through lighting design. As a leader and mentor, Aram has shaped lighting design at EXP and for hundreds of clients around the world.
Throughout his 29-year career, Aram has provided lighting design services to projects that span a wide range of markets, including transportation, healthcare, retail, corporate, civic and cultural, hospitality and themed entertainment. His team’s notable projects include lighting design for Chicago Transit Authority’s Washington/Wabash Elevated Station, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Hotel + Convention Center Expansion, Indigenous Peoples Experience, Ferrari World and Lake Nona Wave Hotel.
“Aram is undeniably impressive and has set a high bar for an extraordinary lighting designer and manager,” EXP Senior Vice President Bill McGuire said. “Aram brings technical precision, passion and mastery to lighting design and his award is recognition of his impressive career and contributions. We are incredibly proud of his well-deserved recognition.”
Aram has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatrical Design and attended a master’s course in Theatrical Design in London. He has been actively involved in IALD, serving in multiple capacities for over 15 years. His roles have included Chair of the Membership Committee, and presently, Director on the International Board. In addition, Aram was a member of the Themed Entertainment Association’s International Board and served on the Executive Committee of the Dean’s Advisory Council/College of Fine Arts at Florida State University. Aram also served as an adjunct professor at University of Central Florida through last year.
Aram was celebrated at IALD Enlighten Americas.
