The Montreal Metro has been moving Montrealers for over 50 years. As the region’s population has grown, so has the need for more rapid, reliable and efficient public transportation. The blue line extension is one of STM’s largest projects in recent years, and EXP is providing a wide range of engineering services across the project. Scheduled to open in 2026, this new section, will bring five new universally accessible subway stations between Saint-Michel and Anjou. The project will also build facilities for rolling stock maintenance and repair, auxiliary buildings, two new bus terminals and a park-and-ride lot.
In addition to improving mobility on the network, the project will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance the overall user experience. The project is aiming for Envision certification, the main sustainable development tool used in North America for large-scale infrastructure projects such as metros and streetcars.
