EXP wins Williams Parkway Reconstruction Design Project

April 11, 2022

The City of Brampton has recently awarded the Williams Parkway Reconstruction Design Project to EXP. The Transportation Municipal Team, led by Transportation Design Lead Carlyle Glean, was selected by the City to redesign Williams Parkway from McLaughlin Road to Dixie Road into a ‘Complete Streets’ experience for its residents. The redesign and delivery will focus on an environmentally friendly approach that enables safe movement of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.

“This award is a testimony of the trust our valued clients place in EXP’s capability and experience to deliver on critical Transportation Projects,” said VP Transportation, Central Canada Magdy Samaan.

The vision

EXP’s project team will deliver the following key attributes outlined in Williams Parkway Feasibility Assessment Study:

  • Improvement of the existing road condition.
  • Installation of a multi-use path on both sides of the road.
  • Developing active transportation facilities with cross-rides at all intersections.
  • Rehabilitation of several bridge structures and retaining walls.
  • Implementation of Low Impact Design (LID) measures.
  • Upgrading traffic signals, streetlights and pedestrian lights; and,
  • Enhancing streetscaping in the boulevard by providing environmentally friendly features.

The enhancements are vital, as Williams Parkway is surrounded by vibrant neighborhoods, several city parks and trails and commercial and institutional spaces. The project would enhance these attributes while maintaining the natural features and character of the community.

The detailed design of the Williams Parkway Reconstruction Design Project is expected to be completed in Spring 2023.
