At AIA Chicago’s Designight 2025 Awards ceremony, EXP celebrated Project Architect Sara Fetterolf’s, AIA, NCARB, recognition as the AIA Chicago Foundation’s 2025 Dubin Family Young Architect Award recipient. The prestigious award honors outstanding talent and significant contributions from emerging architects in the Chicago area.
Sara joined EXP in 2014 as an Architectural Designer and has focused much of her career at EXP on public transit work. Sara’s work has supported the success of impactful projects including the CTA Garfield Gateway Station Renovation, CTA 95th/Dan Ryan Terminal Station, CTA Quincy Loop Station Restoration + Expansion and many others.
“Sara has displayed tremendous passion, commitment and growth to the field of architecture,” Senior Vice President Jef Jakalski, AIA said. “As an advocate for connecting projects and people to enhance communities, Sara is helping to shape the future of our industry. The award recognizes her positive effect on public infrastructure and mentoring the next generation of leaders. As an organization, we could not be prouder to celebrate Sara’s achievement.”
Sara is a graduate of Miami University and the Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and a Master in Architecture. She is a co-founder of AIA Chicago LGBTQI+ Alliance, a member of the AIA WING Mentorship Program and EXP’s Lindblom Math & Science Academy Mentorship Program.
Sara was celebrated at AIA Chicago’s Designight 2025, where EXP was Platinum Sponsor.
