The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) $2.1 billion Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) Project embarked on ambitious goals to reduce congestion, minimize delays and bring safer, cleaner and more reliable transit to Chicagoans. The recently completed Red-Purple Bypass within the RPM project has already alleviated congestion near the Belmont station, addressing a major bottleneck caused by the old, outdated junction with crisscrossing tracks.
