Adaptive reuse of a warehouse building transforms into a state-of-the-art, 250,000 SF, 2-story, colocation data center with 11 data center suites—each capable of providing up to 1500 KW UPS power. The facility was designed for phased construction and modular expansion based on the clients’ specifications and flexible power demands. Modular chiller plants were designed as prefabricated free standing structures for better quality control and faster delivery. Standby generators were designed as double-stack enclosures with sub-base fuel tanks as a space saving measure.
Utilizing innovative technologies, engineering solutions included chillers with magnetic, oil free compressors, combined with dedicated evaporative condenser cooling towers to reach unprecedented energy efficiency levels 20 to 30 percent higher than most efficient chillers. The colocation data center project also involved installing a modular Energy Star UPS system that will perform with one of the highest part-load efficiencies in the industry. The facility was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
The entire facility is designed as Tier III with 2N power supply and N+1 cooling capacity, and it is estimated to operate at an annual average of 1.35 PUE.
