EXP proudly supports JDRF’s $100M Campaign to Accelerate type 1 diabetes research

April 25, 2022

EXP is proud to participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) largest charitable fundraising campaign for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF set out to make history again, and during this campaign, five Canadian volunteers whom T1D has impacted and will live atop a flagpole across Canada for 100 hours to raise $100M to help find a cure for T1D.

EXP donated its time as a base-building engineering service on behalf of our client Cadillac Fairview at TD Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The EXP team led by Senior Associate, Structural Division Roy Flood, P.Eng., evaluated the effects of proposed loading on the granite paver system over the TD Centre Concourse and provided guidance to avoid damage to the paver system during setup, dismantling and event operations.

Roy’s team visually examined pavers within the event and set up areas before and after the event to confirm that the activities did not damage the paver system.

The 100th anniversary of the discovery of insulin by Canadian researchers Fredrick Banting and Charles Best marks a major milestone in the fight against diabetes. JDRF aims to raise $100M during this campaign to accelerate research to find the cure for diabetes, and EXP is proud to join the fight.
