University of California, San Diego Center for Novel Therapeutics

LEED Gold design in San Diego’s first academic industry incubator

Located in UCSD’s Scientific Research Park, the University of California Center for Novel Therapeutics (CNT) project is San Diego’s first academic industry drug discovery incubator site.

Designed to accelerate cancer research to clinical trials, the three-story, world-class research center brings together academic research and private sector support with the goal of speeding “bench to bedside”— turning research into viable patient treatments. The modern space also provides commercialized resources through wet and dry lab spaces for entrepreneurs.

The ground-up construction brings highly adaptable lab and office modules, a farm-to-table restaurant and a fitness center, while an enclosed atrium provides day-lit space for industry events and conference suites.

Certified LEED Gold, sustainable features include a high-performance envelope, high-efficiency central cooling plant, variable volume air-handling systems, LED light fixtures, lighting controls and photovoltaic panels.
