The new world-class Prebys Cardiovascular Institute combines state-of-the-art patient care with advanced design strategies.
The project features a central plant building design that integrates storage for an emergency water supply into the facility’s foundation – making it the first hospital in the San Diego area to have this capability and among the first in California. Design includes a domestic water and waste water storage tank that each hold 400,000 gallons of water, allowing the hospital to stay operational for three days in the event of a loss to the facility’s domestic water supply.
