Throughout the 2024-2025 academic year, EXP partnered with Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Connector Lab and Qualico Communities Calgary to mentor students on real-world applications of engineering, science, architecture and design.
The curriculum prepared students for a detailed capstone project, where they apply learned concepts in geomatics, linear infrastructure, sustainable design, urban planning and apply problem-solving skills to a Qualico Communities site. On April 14 and 16, students presented their capstone projects and shared the knowledge acquired throughout the year.
“We’re proud to say that out of SAIT’s history of capstone projects, it was the most successful completion by students from multiple disciplines. This capstone project showcased an unprecedented level of collaboration. As engineers, it is crucial to theorize and apply knowledge through practical testing. The students practiced this approach and were able to see how they too could provide meaningful contributions to the built and natural environment. We are grateful for the partnership with SAIT and Qualico, and congratulations to the students. We look forward to seeing each of them excel in their future careers,” said Senior Field Supervisor Doug Rau, C.E.T.
