EXP, part of the Kraemer North America team, and alongside SRF Consulting Group celebrates the WIS 130 Wisconsin River crossing bridge project near Lone Rock winning two major engineering awards. The project was recognized with a Best of State Award at ACEC Wisconsin’s 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards and won the Best Structure Design Award from the WisDOT Division of Transportation System Development in the Consultant Designed Bridge category.
The awards recognize innovations in engineering and projects that contribute to strengthening infrastructure and enhancing transportation safety in Wisconsin.
The WIS 130 Wisconsin River crossing project revitalized an aging crossing that serves as a critical link for local communities. Three existing aging truss bridges were replaced by two concrete girder bridges to resolve structural and safety hazards. The new river crossings improve safety through the addition of standard width travel lanes and shoulders, concrete barriers and retaining walls. The new bridge alignment created more efficient traffic patterns, creating less congestion and resolving safety concerns. The design of the river crossings was recognized for its minimal environmental footprint and its protection of sensitive wetlands and surrounding nature.
The project was delivered ahead of schedule because of the use of a design-build method that combined design and construction processes and streamlined coordination. “EXP is proud to bring innovative solutions and our transportation expertise to critical infrastructure in Wisconsin. Our work alongside Kraemer North America, SRF Consulting Group and WisDOT resulted in a safer, more efficient travel experiences,” said Vice President and Transportation Leader Rowland Hoslet.
