The Fernand-Séguin school wins a Cecobois Award of Excellence

March 22, 2023

The Fernand-Séguin School Expansion project received an award at the 2023 Cecobois Awards of Excellence Gala in the Educational Facility category. Our mechanical, electrical, structural and civil engineering teams, together with our environmental, geotechnical, materials testing and industrial hygiene teams, worked in collaboration with the Montreal School Services Center (CSSDM), BGLA architecture + design urbain and Smith Vigeant Architectes on this project.

Located in Montreal’s Ahuntsic neighborhood, the school’s expansion project allowed for the addition of ten classrooms, a space for day-care service, a gymnasium, a multi-use room and a reading room. The experts designed a mixed materials structure that includes areas with light wooden framing, sections made of engineered wood and steel elements. This type of light-frame structure is the first of its kind to be used in decades for a CSSDM school.
