Green committees: an internal network for sustainability

October 6, 2026

Sustainability is embedded in everything we do. Through our commitment to the United Nations Global Compact and the delivery of more than 460 LEED-certified projects, we strive to make a positive impact in the communities we serve

This commitment is not limited to our project achievements. Through our green committee network, employees play an active role in advancing eco-friendly practices across EXP.

Our teams: Driving change

The green committee network launched in 2024 to offer employees a way to directly contribute to sustainable initiatives. The network has implemented measures that support long-term change within the organization, align company practices with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and foster a culture of environmental stewardship. Today, it brings together 47 EXP employees across 13 offices and laboratories throughout Quebec.

Taking concrete action every day

  • Waste management

Goal: Reduce waste and encourage reuse.

Our green committees have introduced composting and recycling programs in several offices, improved signage for waste sorting and restocked lunchrooms with second-hand reusable dishware.

In our laboratories, a variety of initiatives have also been implemented, including cleaning and recycling sample containers at the Trois-Rivières laboratory.

  • Active and sustainable mobility

Goal: Encourage EXP employees to adopt sustainable and active modes of transportation.

The committees regularly promote cycling and carpooling through a range of awareness campaigns. Examples include the Vélo Volt program, which provides shared electric bicycles for team members, as well as carpooling initiatives tied to company events. In May 2026, green committees also invited colleagues to take part in Vélo Québec’s Bike Month Challenge. EXP teams earned third place, covering more than 12,300 kilometers by bike.

  • Awareness and mobilization

Goal: Strengthen EXP’s culture of environmental engagement through organized awareness-building events and engagement activities for employees.

These activities include community clean-ups, educational newsletters and lunch-and-learn sessions on topics such as waste management and cycling as a mode of transportation. Committees also ensure that waste is responsibly sourced and properly managed at corporate events.

Sustainability is a shared responsibility, and EXP is committed to expanding the reach of initiatives to create lasting change across our organization.
