EXP leads design team for Eglinton Crosstown West Extension – Advance Tunnel Project

March 10, 2021

EXP is excited to announce its lead design role in the West End Connectors that was recently selected by Infrastructure Ontario as the first negotiations proponent (FNP) for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension – Advance Tunnel Project.

“World-class cities require world-class transit options,” says Mark Dvorak, EXP’s president and chief operating officer. “This critical piece of infrastructure, connecting Toronto’s west end, is exactly the kind of project that EXP can make happen, just as we have in other bustling cities across North America.”

EXP’s efforts to date have been led by Reece Bailey, executive vice president of major projects.

“EXP’s role as design lead has a direct correlation to our reputation for excellent design for complex projects. We fully understand the needs of the province, the city and the daily commuters, and we will work with our industry partners to deliver innovative solutions,” commented Reece.

The FNP is the first step in the province’s open, fair and competitive procurement process overseen by third-party fairness monitors. Upon the successful conclusion of negotiations, the West End Connectors could complete the financial close in the second quarter of 2021.

About the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension is an approximately 9.2-kilometer extension of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT (future Line 5), from Mount Dennis to Renforth Drive in Toronto, ON. EXP has been heavily involved in the early works and ongoing monitoring of the LRT project for several years and will apply that firsthand knowledge in its role as prime among other industry leaders.
