Apollo Beach Blvd / I-75 Roadway Extension

Improving transportation for local communities in Tampa

The Apollo Beach Extension Project adds a new route for commuters, improves pedestrian and bicycle safety, reduces congestion and delivers a long-term solution for local communities and the region.

This important project extended an existing four-lane divided highway to create an overpass on I-75, connecting US 41 to US 301. A steel flyover bridge spanning over I-75 and a 7-span concrete bridge spanning over the Bullfrog Creek wetland area together provide a much-needed alternate east-west corridor.

The project includes an off-site mitigation area, drainage improvements, full road construction and landscaping. EXP’s construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services included extensive coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Hillsborough County, the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFMD) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

Since completion, the extension now connects three major routes and eases traffic on Big Bend Road between two rapidly growing residential areas.
