EXP’s office in Sherbrooke, Quebec, made a symbolic move to the completed Espace Centro MW Tower. The office is steps away from where EXP’s predecessor company began as a small engineering firm nearly a century ago.
With continued goals to deliver innovative and quality solutions to clients and support the socioeconomic growth of the Sherbrooke downtown area, EXP invested and then partnered with Groupe Custeau to design and build Espace Centro’s six- and ten-story mixed use towers. The new office provides employees with a modern, state-of-the-art environment to support their professional needs, as well as position EXP for future growth opportunities.
The Espace Centro project was selected by the City of Sherbrooke in 2019 and construction began in the spring of 2022. Less than a year later, EXP employees moved in. “The design of the shared common areas is really great, it feels good to reunite with my colleagues in this beautiful setting,” said BIM Director Pierre-André Trudel.
The space is the result of a multidisciplinary effort involving our buildings, structure, landscape architecture, urban infrastructure, MEP, air quality, fire protection, BIM, sustainable decelopment, geotechnical and materials testing teams. “I am very proud because our own teams designed and worked on this project,” said Raphaël Fontaine, project manager in the Sherbrooke Buildings team.
In addition to EXP teams’ vital role in the revitalization of the area with this project, EXP will also restore a section of Wellington Sud Street and design the plaza located between the two Espace Centro towers. The vegetation islands, urban furniture and terraces implemented along the street and on the plaza will create a safe and inviting space, setting the stage for meetings and friendly conversations. Construction work on the street and plaza will begin in April with a completion date set for fall 2023.
