EXP selected to support Miami International Airport (MIA) revitalization project

August 24, 2026

EXP has been selected by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) to develop their Modernization in Action plan, which will lead to the update and expansion of critical facilities. Multiple sections of the airport including its runways, concourses, walkways, parking structures and terminals will be renovated to optimize efficiency and accommodate more passengers.

“Modern airports rely on highly coordinated mechanical and electrical systems to support passenger comfort, operational reliability and safety,” Vice President, Buildings Svetan Veliov said. “By assessing these critical facilities and developing modernization solutions aligned with MDAD’s long-term vision, we will help ensure the infrastructure supporting MIA’s operations remains resilient, efficient and ready for future growth.”

EXP will provide professional services for the Lower E and E-Satellite mechanical and electrical room upgrades. These areas are home to essential systems like air conditioning, lighting and safety functions that must be up to date to ensure a seamless travel experience.

EXP will assess 125 of these rooms, identify gaps in infrastructure, develop documents for equipment replacement and determine a solution that aligns with the ultimate vision and project goals.

“We are excited to collaborate with Miami-Dade County to bring an updated and upgraded passenger experience to the next generation,” Vice President, Director of Aviation Marcos Souza said. “This project will solidify MIA as a premier travel hub for decades to come.”
