Chicago’s “L” system has a long history of innovation, as it continuously evolves to improve efficiency and accessibility, and serves as a connection between neighborhoods. As a city, Chicago is a symbol of architectural excellence and experimentation. EXP embraces Chicago’s architectural heritage and the momentum of Chicago’s future with the completion of two significant new CTA stations – the Washington/Wabash elevated station, located in the heart of the Loop and gateway to Millennium Park and the 95th/Dan Ryan terminal station at the southern gateway to the city of Chicago.
Principal design architect Tom Hoepf, FAIA, who led EXP’s integrated design team on these stations, is influenced by the notion that the idea of MOVEMENT is at the heart of the transit system. Tom respects it as the thread that weaves through Chicago to connect the city of neighborhoods and diverse communities with each other.
