Reimagining live entertainment with compelling design

Located in Oak Brook, Illinois, Wonderverse draws guests in with vivid light displays and interactive experiences. The space houses several exhibits, each designed in the theme of a specific movie, that allow guests to experience some of their favorite movies from a new and immersive perspective.

To power these displays and exhibits, EXP designed the essential engineering infrastructure of the spaces. Among the exhibits are a virtual reality experience, an escape room and themed games. The exhibits’ lighting elements and vivid designs let guests step into the movie’s setting. In addition to these exhibits, Wonderverse also includes a themed restaurant, bar and speakeasy.

Although the space is a large and open area, each exhibit within it must present a unique theme and environment to visitors. To create visual separation, design elements such as finishes, furniture and lighting elements were used to accentuate different spaces and make each one feel like its own world.

Technology design to support operations

The design of various technology systems supports operations throughout Wonderverse’s exhibits and public spaces. EXP’s technology team provided a structured cabling system, surveillance system and AV and background music (BGM) systems. The structured cabling and surveillance systems were designed to meet communication, networking, data and Wi-Fi requirements for exhibits, as well as provide security coverage for guest and staff safety within the Wonderverse exhibits.

The AV systems were designed to provide an enhanced guest experience while immersing guests in the various themed exhibits. The BGM system was designed to provide ambient sound in restaurant and other public spaces without disrupting guest interactions.
