The second phase of toll Highway 407 was a significant expansion for the greater Toronto Area, Durham region. This phase extended Highway 407 22 km east from Oshawa to Bowmanville, connected Highways 401 and 407 East with a 10km Highway 418 (north-south freeway) and provided eight new major interchanges.
Working with the Design Build Finance Maintain (DBFM) consortium, Blackbird Constructors 407 General Partnership, EXP provided a range of geotechnical engineering and consulting services, extending to pavement, hydrogeology, survey and construction-phase services. In addition to geotechnical investigations, the EXP team provided geotechnical design consultations and construction review services for eight major intersections, more than 100 bridges and culverts, high mast lighting, retaining walls and other earthworks.
