As a Preferred Commissioning Provider (PCP) for Ascension Healthcare, EXP provided LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning services for the new 9-story, 517,000 SF inpatient hospital constructed on The University of Texas at Austin campus (UT Austin). The facility includes 211 beds, 13 operating rooms, an emergency department and a complete utility distribution plant with heat exchangers, pumps, heat pumps, chillers, emergency generators and electrical switchgear. The building ties into the district chilled and heating water plants on the UT Austin campus.
Beyond traditional HVAC commissioning, EXP provided electrical commissioning for the critical power systems. EXP also commissioned the low voltage systems – nurse call, fire alarm and security systems – which are critical for the well-being of the patients.
