Scarborough Health Network Dialysis Care Units
Toronto, ON, Canada
Operating three hospitals in the region, the Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is a critical hospital network in Ontario. The network operates one of the largest regional nephrology and renal programs in North America.
This important project brought new dialysis care units for the Centenary and General Hospitals.
Centenary Hospital
At the Centenary Hospital, renovation of the existing occupational therapy space created a new 20 station dialysis unit, airborne isolation treatment room and program space for a patient welcome area and administrative support.
General Hospital
Construction of a new expanded 18-station dialysis unit required reconfiguration of 12 existing stations within the Crockford Wing and the addition of 6 new stations within the West Wing. In addition to clinical space for dialysis, the project brought program space for a patient welcome area and administrative support.
New facilities within existing spaces
Integration within existing sites at both hospitals required work with existing services. EXP’s team coordinated with the architectural team for the routing of services based on architectural layouts, and worked closely with the contractor during the construction stage.
