The flight simulation building accommodates eight full flight simulator bays, four fixed training devices, a door trainer, a cabin trainer, dining area and classrooms.
Sustainable design
The sustainable facility was designed to LEED v4. The mechanical systems consist of a chilled water system, air handling units, variable air volume terminal units, roof top units, exhaust fans, fan coil units and automated lighting controls.
The headquarters building is provided with paralleled generators providing backup power for critical systems, including a central data center supplied by redundant UPS systems. The simulation building and associated simulators are provided with integral UPS.
Technology design
EXP designed the electronic security systems for Spirit Airlines’ new headquarters, simulation building, amenity building and residential facilities. Systems included IP-based video surveillance, electronic access control (including residential-style access control for the residential building and parking), intercoms, emergency telephone systems, employee access turnstiles and a main security operations center with video wall and command center controls. The design was coordinated with integrations across multiple systems, including fire alarm and life safety, elevators and building management systems.
Commissioning of the new facility
Commissioning of the shell office building included: monitoring-based commissioning, chilled water systems, dedicated outside air systems, air handling units, zone temperature control equipment, domestic hot water systems, domestic water booster systems, lighting controls, electrical distribution and emergency power.
