The Moxy Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel is a vibrant, whimsical destination for travelers and local patrons alike. The 7-story, 65,000 SF hotel features 126 keys, a modern and open lobby with waterfront views, full-service restaurant, state-of-the-art video wall and on-site food and beverage options.

Building systems design

The mechanical system is comprised of several roof top multi-zone VRV DX equipment and 100% dedicated outside air roof top units. EXP’s building engineering team applied innovative solutions to lay out the utility service yard – satisfying safety clearances, while still allowing proper access to the building

Lighting design to enhance the guest experience

Playful yet sophisticated lighting treatments enhance the beachside vibes of the hotel – inviting guests to mingle in the comfortable lounge areas, play large-scale parlor games or take a trip down the 2-story slide in the lobby.  Architectural cylinders and track mounted spotlights provide task lighting at the bar, lounges and restaurant, while oversized and sparkling decorative pendants provide a cozy glow for guests.

Technology design to enhance hospitality offerings

Key features of the new hotel’s technology design included wireless data for guestrooms, built-in AV systems in the multipurpose space and a networked background music system (BMG) serving both indoor and outdoor common spaces. EXP’s technology design team also designed the structured cabling system, video surveillance and electronic access control systems, as well as telecommunications room fittings.
