EXP wins silver at Cultivate 2021
EXP is excited to announce Nate Morriss, PE, SE, has joined EXP as Senior Project Manager – Rail. Based in EXP’s Chicago office, Nate brings over 25 years of experience in structural and civil design for bridge and rail yard projects. Reporting to vice president, transportation, Brian Umbright, Nate will be a part of a team that is recognized for meeting the nations evolving rail demands.

He continues, “Nate joins our team at an important time, as we set our sights on expanding our portfolio of rail projects that deliver long-term, sustainable solutions. Nate brings the foundational knowledge and experience to address the complexities of rail infrastructure and an approach that supports EXP’s transportation initiatives – deliver solutions that connect communities.”
Before joining EXP, Nate was the Director of Civil and Structural Design at Metra, where he oversaw the successful execution of all yard and bridge projects for the agency’s capital program. Throughout his career, Nate has been a subject matter expert on multi-modal projects for agencies such as Metra, the Illinois Tollway, the Chicago Department of Transportation, CTA and IDOT. His roles focused on structural inspection, scoping and project development and design. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering and is an Illinois licensed professional engineer and structural engineer. Nate is active in the rail and engineering community, serving as a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-way Association (AREMA) Committee 15, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), ASCE Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Illinois Chapter and a member of the Chicago Maintenance of Way Club.
