The design of a 19,000 SF data center buildout, within a corporate office building for Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Center, is an IBM “Level 3” facility. The facility contains production space, testing and development, as well as a network operations center.
To ensure efficient performance, improvements to the mechanical, electrical, fire protection and control systems in the build-out were made. The mechanical system consists of computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units serving the main data floor underfloor air distribution. Fire protection systems consists of a pre-action system and an early warning smoke detection system. The controls system ties all mechanical and electrical systems via BACnet into a central building management system.
The data center was provided with independent generator power and is geo-redundant to another facility operated by MSK. The overall systems were designed to facilitate planned future growth.
