In recent weeks, EXP welcomed Mario Bianchin as vice president, mining operations in Western Canada. Mario is based in EXP’s Burnaby, BC office and reports to Senior Vice President Aziz Sene. With nearly 25 years of specialized experience in geo-environmental engineering and environmental engineering and contaminants, Mario’s experience supports clients in mitigating environmental risks related to a mine’s lifecycle, from planning and development to reclamation and closure.
“Mario joins EXP at a crucial time. The mining environment continues to bring unique concerns and hurdles to clients, including challenging operating environments, technology, infrastructure needs and metal demand. With talented experts on our team like Mario, we continue to help our clients overcome these challenges and mitigate risk and have a positive effect on their bottom line along the way,” said Aziz.
In his previous roles at Wood Environment & Infrastructure as well as Amec Foster Wheeler, Mario applied extensive expertise from the study and practice of hydrogeology, water treatment, geochemistry and geotechnical mining to mine waste management strategies. His experience helped clients determine whether contaminants would challenge their ongoing projects, if remediations were required and helped determine the most efficient sustainable outcomes. He has applied his experience to projects including Conuma Resources Ltd Wolverin Mine expansion (Hermann) Water Management Plan, Teck Legacy Properties Beaverdell Mine Reclamation Plan and Seabridge Gold’s Johnny Mountain Mine Reclamation Execution Plan.
