David Uremovich joins EXP as director of mining operations

EXP is pleased to announce that David Uremovich, P. Eng., recently joined our growing mining group as Director of Mining Operations in northern Ontario.

David brings over 18 years of mining industry experience in design, maintenance, and operations, with seventeen of those years spent at Vale. Our teams will benefit from his deep understanding of our clients and industry expertise. With Vale, he was part of the design team for the Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery Granulation Arm Ladle Disconnect Device which won an award at the 2020 North Atlantic KAIZEN™ Competition (Processing Plants), out of over 6,000 entries. The competition recognizes organizations taking the lead in implementing the KAIZEN™ framework, driving continuous improvement efforts and inspiring change among industry leaders.

“David’s great insight and client experience will be critical to our success,” explains Aziz Sene, EXP’s vice president of mining. “We are excited to have such an accomplished and creative engineer on our team that can share his knowledge and help differentiate our services in the sector.”

David will be responsible for overseeing mining operations including project management, engineering, construction, commissioning, health, safety, security and environment, project controls and quality management activities of EXP’s mining sector in the Northern Ontario region, developing and implementing strategies to expand the business and diversify our portfolio of mining clients. On the technical side, Dave will bring his expertise to help deliver projects related to underground mining, burner management systems, various industrial process applications, material handling, dust collection systems, noise abatement, pumps, piping, dewatering, roasters, coolers and quench chambers.

David studied and obtained his bachelor of engineering (mechanical) from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, ON, and went on to get his master of engineering (mechanical) from Concordia University in Montreal, QC. He has also been published in Science and Technology of Advanced Materials with a technical article entitled Thermodynamic modeling of the Ca–Ni system
