Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) Reconstruction

reconstructing a busy toll road to improve capacity

Reconstruction of the Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) provided a safe and efficient solution, while expanding Open Road Tolling and replacing the signature arch bridge over the Fox River.

The complex $106M reconstruction and widening project provided an efficient solution to meet increasing traffic demands on the toll road, while minimizing environmental impacts. With expanded Open Road Tolling, this 3.4-mile section of I-88 provides greater capacity with three lanes in each direction.

A replacement 1,300-foot-long precast concrete arch bridge over the Fox River establishes a common thread connecting the line of arch bridges across the Fox River. As the only arch bridge in the Illinois Tollway’s system, it serves as an iconic feature for the toll road and the region.
