The award recognized our work on Minoru Yamasaki's Main Terminal at Lambert International Airport. Designed in 1959, this terminal is a mid-century modern icon and gateway to the city of St. Louis. Our work included the renovation and restoration of the dramatic concrete vaults and skylights.

Among the jury comments: "The jury was thrilled to see a modern landmark given the same attention usually reserved for traditionally historic properties. This restoration enhances Yamasaki's bold vision. The light coves and ceiling materials cleanly and crisply accent form. The jury was impressed by the project's sensitivity, attention to detail and overall elegance. They also applauded how it addressed the AIA's 10 Principles of Livable Communities."

Petr is known as one of the leaders in environmentally compatible structures (ECS). The textbook called Concept of The Theory of Environmentally Compatible Structures and Structural Materials was co-authored andedited by Petr along with his father, Prof. Ludevit Vegh, DrSc. who is also internationally recognized as a leader in ECS. During the writing, Petr and his father communicated with and managed an international team of seventeen other authors from five countries, who also contributed to the book. This book will be distributed mainly to universities around the world, helping further the education of the next generation of engineers.

The second book, Fifty Years of Progress for Shell and Spatial Structures was inspired by the 50th Anniversary Jubilee of the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS). Petr and his father, at the requestof IASS, joined an international team of authors and contributed a section entitled Toward Environmental Compatibility In Engineering and Architecture. The book has been distributed to members of the IASS and the International Associate for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) and is also on sale to the general public.

Exp is proud of all of our industry experts and would like to congratulate Petr and Ludevit on their outstanding contributions to engineering around the world.
