Originally developed in the 1800s, the East Village of downtown Calgary had been neglected since World War I. To transform the area into a vibrant, new community meant the 100-year-old infrastructure had to be upgraded for new residential and commercial development. Plans for the unique and sustainable community include the construction of a storm water wetland to remove sediment from the existing urban catchment area, integration of open spaces including the riverfront, Fort Calgary, and two new park areas, pedestrian-friendly streets, and preservation of historical buildings. Services provided include project management, preliminary engineering and design, construction and post-construction services, storm water and landscape architecture.
